Message from the Mayor of Kraków: Act Local

Every great city understands, values and recognizes its most impactful stakeholders, whether you talk about culture, science, academia or business brands that keep raising the bar for what it means to be a truly ambitious, smart, sustainable or business-friendly city.

It is a great pleasure to be here today at this conference, and to celebrate with you the 15th anniversary of ASPIRE. A lot has happened over those 15 years. Kraków has changed almost beyond recognition. This is particularly true in your industry, where, 15 years ago, the scope, the complexity and diversity of services delivered from your centres can hardly be compared to what Kraków’s business community is capable of today.

Let me say this as plainly as I can: Your industry has had a huge, positive impact on our city, on the economy of the region, on what we actually mean when we say KRAKÓW’S HUMAN CAPITAL, or Kraków’s JOB MARKET. And I wish to thank you for that (from the bottom of my heart).

Even though our city has a long history as a centre of learning, with one of the oldest universities in Europe, it’s probably fair to say this industry has truly helped accelerate our progress and take Kraków’s international-cooperation ambitions to the next level.

It’s also fair to say ASPIRE has helped position Kraków on the map for business services, demonstrating leadership, vision and the spirit of collaboration at its best.

As we go forward, I will do my best to make sure Kraków’s City Hall is ever more open to dialogue and ever more active in fostering meaningful cooperation.

ASPIRE is known not only for 15 years of bringing together Kraków’s international business landscape, but also for lasting friendships that have been built over those years.

Let us work ever closer together to shape our shared future. And let’s make it a truly bright one! Thanks also to you, this city now has all it takes to set international trends and share best practice, not just follow and imitate.

Conferences like this one are about sharing ideas, building trust, and creating lasting connections. The better we understand one another’s needs, the more integrated we will become as a community of business leaders, the better it is for Kraków, the better it is for us all.

Thank you.

Aleksander Miszalski
